What is 'BEN' and How Does it Work?
BEN, the Better Email Notification, has been implemented to keep your MLS® data as consistent and accurate as possible so you can depend on it and not have to keep asking questions of the listing agents. It also helps staff with MLS® compliance to make their job more efficient. BEN runs a report at midnight reviewing all new and modified listings from that day and will send you an email. The subject line of the email is: MLS® Notice and what BEN is asking you to fix or follow-up on.

BEN checks for incomplete or incorrect information such as:
- Checking the Private and Public Remarks for any ITSO MLS® rule violations like 'agent to verify' or 'no showings until' and self-promotion and any reference to schedule or offer that should be in the new Offer Remarks field
- Commencement dates older than one business day
- Invalid or incorrect number of bathrooms
- Missing or invalid Tax information, Sellers Name and improper Zoning
- Above ground square footage greater than total square footage
- Missing images on a listing
- Showings not immediately available
- Invalid or incorrect commission
BEN also sends out friendly reminders
- an upcoming contract expiry date, one-time five days before
- a random request for a listing audit to send in the 'paperwork'
There are currently three notices that get sent out:
- Initial notice on the day the listing is entered giving you a heads up
- Second notice on the following business day indicating a warning that the listing might be suspended if not corrected by the third business day
- Third notice on the third business day that the listing will be suspended and MLS® will take the listing off-market. If you have a logical reason that the MLS® rule cannot be adhered to, let us know.
If you correct any of the compliance issues, BEN won't remind you again.
