RECO is pleased to announce an upcoming change to how registrants and applicants will obtain a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC), when required by RECO. Obtaining a CRJMC has been a requirement for new registrations with RECO since 2010.
Beginning June 1, 2025, all applicants and registrants who are required to provide RECO with a CRJMC will do so through Triton Canada (Triton), a leading provider of background checks.
Registrants who registered with RECO prior to 2010, who have not previously obtained a CRJMC, and whose registration is due to expire on or after June 1, 2025, will be notified to do so through Triton in support of their next renewal of registration. RECO may also periodically require a current CRJMC from any registrant.
The process for obtaining a CRJMC will be more consistent, efficient and cost-effective for registrants. CRJMCs will be initiated through MyWeb and submitted online through Triton’s platform. Results will be available in as little as 15 minutes, but no longer than one business day in most cases. With RECO’s partnership with Triton, the cost for obtaining a CRJMC will be $19.95 + HST ($22.54) – a significant cost savings compared to historical fees charged by various police services across the province.
