Where can I learn more about the breakdown of OREA Dues and the ORWP Program? The OREA ORWP amount covers an extensive array of benefits, encompassing healthcare, prescription drugs, paramedical services (including massage, physiotherapy, and chiropractic care), medical services, and supplies (such as casts, hearing aids, and orthotics), and more. it also includes out-of-country emergency medical travel insurance, critical illness insurance, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and a member virtual care and mental health program. For more information about the ORWP please refer to: https://www.orea.com/resources/REALTOR-Wellness-Program |
How do I add family members or additional coverage to my plans? Your Home Board will be reporting membership information to OREA. These reports allow OREA to enroll Individual Members in the Program and will generate ‘Welcome Emails’ for registration via the OREA ORWP Portal. From the ORWP Portal, you will be able to upgrade your plans. |
Who are the insurers?

The ORWP Portal was developed as a secure means of file transfer between Member Boards, OREA and CBS. |
The OREA Member Boards voted to proceed with the ORWP and the program will be implemented in January 2024. The motions that would have ended the ORWP were defeated 73 to 59 with 29 abstaining. Click here to watch OREA's video message about the decision. We understand that this result is not what some Members were hoping for, however, we want to assure you that BDAR values Member feedback, and your voice has been heard. BDAR Leadership voted in line with the Framework Analytics survey results which indicated 68% of respondents were opposed to the ORWP in its current format. See results here. Many BDAR members also completed TRREB's ORWP survey which indicated only 36.2% of overall respondents were opposed. See the TRREB survey results here. |
Participation in the Ontario REALTOR® Wellness Program (“ORWP” or the “Program”) is a condition of membership in OREA and the premiums/costs for the Program are paid by way of the OREA Dues. Members who do not wish to have their personal information shared will still have coverage under the ORWP provided they are up-to-date with their OREA Dues payments. Those Members will be enrolled with their unique Member Board ID only and an ORWP record will be created in the event the Member wishes to give consent later to make an insurance claim. OREA will continue to remit insurance premiums to the insurance carriers for the ORWP coverage under their unique Member ID. |
I'm thinking of retiring, what are my options? If you plan to retire after January 1st and enrolling in the ORWP, you will have the opportunity to extend your coverage through a variety of optional retirement plans. Option 1: Retiree Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance
Option 2: Retiree Health, Dental, Travel, Virtual Care and Mental Health Program
If you want to maintain your RECO license and do not want to enroll or pay for the ORWP, you can park your license. Parking your license means you are no longer involved in organized real estate and wouldn't pay annual fees or OREA, CREA or your local board, and in turn, wouldn't access any of the programs or services offered by those boards including the MLS system or any life insurance/wellness programs and policies. |
