How did ORWP pass?

The OREA Member Boards voted to proceed with the ORWP and the program will be implemented in January 2024. The motions that would have ended the ORWP were defeated 73 to 59 with 29 abstaining. Click here to watch OREA's video message about the decision.

We understand that this result is not what some Members were hoping for, however, we want to assure you that BDAR values Member feedback, and your voice has been heard. BDAR Leadership voted in line with the Framework Analytics survey results which indicated 68% of respondents were opposed to the ORWP in its current format. See results here. Many BDAR members also completed TRREB's ORWP survey which indicated only 36.2% of overall respondents were opposed. See the TRREB survey results here

I am a non-consenting Member, what does that mean?

Participation in the Ontario REALTOR® Wellness Program (“ORWP” or the “Program”) is a condition of membership in OREA and the premiums/costs for the Program are paid by way of the OREA Dues. Members who do not wish to have their personal information shared will still have coverage under the ORWP provided they are up-to-date with their OREA Dues payments. Those Members will be enrolled with their unique Member Board ID only and an ORWP record will be created in the event the Member wishes to give consent later to make an insurance claim. OREA will continue to remit insurance premiums to the insurance carriers for the ORWP coverage under their unique Member ID.
